As a Nowra signwriter, a great majority of the work we produce at John Hills Signs is for our area businesses. Logically, businesses require signage, often a great deal, to suit various events, locations, and environments. Signs have infinite uses: providing directions, supplying information, advertising, entertaining, alerting, making a statement. Signs with their variety of functions are often overlooked, perhaps. Take a moment to look around you, or consider the last time you took a walk down the street, or went for a drive in your car. Signs are everywhere! Because signs are our business, we know the importance and effectiveness of good signage. In this post, we’ve come up with a few creative and clever uses for signs that you may not have considered before. Our ideas may help inspire you to see how signs could help enhance your next big event.

Any large event, business or otherwise

Before we get too specific, let’s consider any big event. With a large event, great numbers of people may be attending. These people will need to know where to enter and exit the event, where to park their cars, and where to find main attractions, points of interest, or even toilets. In the case of a large event, important wayfinding signage could be vital. Perhaps your school is hosting an academic, athletic, or artistic event, being attended by huge numbers of students from other schools. This example would be a perfect time to use informative signage, to let the students know where to check in, park their busses, and where to report for their competition or meeting. An ideal choice for temporary, yet attractive signage is the inexpensive corflute sign, which can be erected and removed almost instantly.

Beyond general large events, there are some events which will benefit tremendously from useful signage, but also require a special touch. Graduations are
a fine example of such an event. On the important occasion of a high school, college, or university graduation, students and guests will need to know where to go on that day. They also expect a celebration. Wayfinding signs will be useful, but so will congratulatory signs, welcoming signage, and more. Signs at such an event might include photographs of graduating students, and include school colours, mottos, or mascots. High quality signage will be required for an event of this calibre, and might include corflute signs, A frames, banner stands, and more.

Entertainment Venues

Anything involving entertainment necessitates some flash and pizzazz. Retractable banner stands are an excellent way to showcase something in the entertainment world, as they can be printed with top quality images and lots of colour. Cinemas use these types of signs all the time in their lobbies, right next to the typical paper posters. Coming attractions look exciting on that basic poster, but films are brought to life using banner stands and other dimensional signs. As these types of signs do get attention, they can be used for a variety of purposes. If you’re looking to spread an important message in a fun and attractive way, a vivid banner stand might be just what you need.

Let’s Get Serious

Here’s a type of sign you may not immediately think of: political. In campaign season, the signs appear in droves, promoting this candidate or that. There’s no doubt that a well-designed, quality sign does get noticed. Candidates looking to excel in politics have the right idea with signage. Inexpensive corflute signs are a great, commonly used option for such signage, as they are cost-effective to mass produce, and can be transported and put up with ease. The lightweight material of corflute signs means they are easily held in-hand, perfect for that political rally or even that upcoming protest!
